India is the 2nd Largest Food Producing Country in the world. Largest in terms of food grains and milk, and second largest in terms of fruits and vegetables.
Food processing industry is growing at the rate of 7% and is expected to grow from US$ 200 billion in 2008 to US$ 310 billion in 2015 with highest growth in the fruits and vegetables sector (20%).
Fruit & Vegetable processing in India is just 2 – 3% while it is 23% in China and 60 – 65% in other countries.
